How Fiverr works · 12 min

Rules that protect your account

Many new sellers lose their account in the first months, not because their work is bad, but because they break a rule they did not know about. Fiverr's Terms of Service and community standards are long; these are the rules that matter most for beginners.

One person, one account

Open one account, in your own real name, and verify it with your own ID when Fiverr asks. Never buy, sell, share or rent accounts. Several accounts from the same person, device or network can be flagged and closed together.

Keep communication and payment on Fiverr

Talk to buyers through Fiverr messages and take payment only through Fiverr orders. Asking a buyer to pay you outside Fiverr, or sharing your phone number, email or social media to move the conversation elsewhere, breaks the rules and removes Fiverr's protection for both of you.

Honest reviews only

Never ask friends or family to order just to leave reviews, never exchange reviews with other sellers, and never offer discounts or extras in return for a five-star rating. Fiverr detects this and it can lead to a permanent ban.

Original work and honest claims

Deliver work you made or have the right to use. Do not copy designs, texts or images from the internet. Do not claim skills, clients or experience you do not have. If you use AI tools, follow Fiverr's current rules and be honest with buyers about how the work was made when it matters to them.

Warnings

If you break a rule, Fiverr may send a warning, limit your account or close it. Read every warning carefully and change what caused it. Repeated warnings usually end in suspension.

Practice task (10 min)

  1. Write a polite reply you can copy whenever a buyer asks to move off Fiverr. Example: "Thanks for asking! To keep both of us protected, I keep all communication and payments on Fiverr."
  2. Write down the five rules from this lesson in your own words and keep them where you work.
